Details

Feminine Intelligence Agency (FIA) is expanding its services to include cybersecurity solutions aimed at protecting women from digital threats, particularly in the realm of social engineering. As generative AI tools continue to advance, they are transforming traditional manipulation tactics, making them more sophisticated, personalized, and pervasive.

This project will task cybersecurity students with researching the landscape of generative AI tools and analyzing how these technologies are reshaping the field of social engineering. The students will identify specific threats that generative AI poses, particularly in scenarios like coercive control and psychological exploitation, and develop actionable recommendations for women to mitigate these risks. The final deliverables will directly support FIA’s goal of offering cutting-edge cybersecurity education and services to its customers.

Deliverables

Key Responsibilities for Students:

  1. Generative AI Landscape Research:
  • Investigate the current capabilities of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, MidJourney, Synthesia) and their potential misuse in social engineering.
  • Identify how these tools could be weaponized in romantic relationships to exploit trust, manipulate emotions, and gather sensitive information.
  1. Social Engineering Threat Analysis:
  • Analyze how AI-enabled tactics, such as deepfake content, AI-generated phishing, and chatbots, can amplify coercive control dynamics.
  • Assess vulnerabilities specific to women, such as oversharing personal data or reliance on digital communication.
  1. Mitigation Strategy Development:
  • Propose practical strategies for women to protect themselves from AI-driven manipulation, such as:
  • Steps to secure personal data and verify the authenticity of digital content.
  • Red flags to recognize manipulative patterns in online or digital interactions.
  1. Cybersecurity Recommendations for FIA:
  • Provide actionable insights to help FIA integrate these findings into its services, such as:
  • Educational materials to raise awareness about generative AI risks.
  • Recommendations for cybersecurity tools or services FIA can offer to its customers.

Deliverables:

  1. Threat Analysis Report:
  • A comprehensive report detailing the new risks generative AI poses in social engineering, with a specific focus on coercive control and manipulation in relationships.
  1. Mitigation Strategies Guide:
  • A practical, user-friendly guide outlining steps women can take to reduce their vulnerability to AI-enabled manipulation.
  1. Recommendations for FIA’s Cybersecurity Services:
  • Suggestions for how FIA can incorporate these findings into its offerings, such as educational campaigns, workshops, or partnerships with cybersecurity tools.
  1. Executive Summary:
  • A concise overview of the findings and recommendations, suitable for FIA’s leadership and customer-facing materials.
