Smart Sourcing: Category Analysis and Supplier Evaluation
OM/EM371
Take your organization to the next level with student-consultants from Clarkson University! Our project-based experience allows students to work on a main project throughout the semester, connecting with you through virtual communication tools as needed. These students have in-depth knowledge of supply and demand processes, enabling them to conduct a category analysis of purchases/spending. This analysis covers short- and long-term availability and costs for the category. Additionally, they excel in supplier evaluation and selection, creating suitable metrics based on criteria such as financial health, cost, quality, delivery, innovation, and best practices. The result? A comprehensive evaluation of vendors and a top alternative recommendation.

Category Analysis + Supplier Selection
EM/OM 371
Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from Clarkson University to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students in this course have an in-depth knowledge of the supply and demand process and will use their insight to perform a category analysis. A category analysis answers questions about the short- and long-term availability and cost for the category. The other aspect of the project is about supplier evaluation and selection process. This includes developing an appropriate metric for supplier selection for example financial health of the supplier, best practices, cost, quality and delivery history of the supplier. Based on these aspects, the vendors can be evaluated and a best alternative can be suggested.
