I appreciated the opportunity to work on this project. Sylvia was supportive and passionate about the topic, and she clearly cares about educating others on financial literacy. The project scope was unique, and I gained valuable insights into cryptocurrency and investment research. Overall, a positive experience with room for some structural improvement.

This project exposed myself and others to one of the most hostile and unethical environments I have ever experienced in an academic or professional setting. The founder’s conduct was not only deeply unprofessional—it was abusive and discriminatory. Over the course of the project, she repeatedly used profane language, made racist remarks, and expressed openly anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments. These were not isolated lapses in judgment but ongoing patterns of behavior that fostered a toxic and unsafe atmosphere. In addition to her offensive language, she repeatedly pressured participants to sign up for products such as meal kits and other “freebies” that appeared to benefit her personally. These promotions were framed as part of the project experience, though it became clear they were unrelated and served her financial or personal interests. Worse still, we were made to feel obligated to donate to her personal GoFundMe campaign. Refusing to contribute resulted in guilt-tripping, public shaming, or passive-aggressive comments implying we were ungrateful or selfish. Throughout the project, she issued threats—direct and indirect—regardless of whether work was delivered on time. These threats created an environment of fear and intimidation that was completely incompatible with any definition of professional collaboration. This project was presented as an educational opportunity, but instead it became a harmful experience marked by coercion, manipulation, and abuse of authority. It is unacceptable that anyone—especially students—should be exposed to this kind of treatment under the banner of experiential learning. I strongly urge that this individual be disqualified from participating in future academic programs or partnerships until a formal review of her conduct is completed and meaningful protections are put in place for students and collaborators.

I learned a lot about public policy. I also developed a deeper appreciation of having effective HR policies in companies and how important it is to prevent harassment before it occurs. All businesses should have secure channels to report misconduct in a way that does not penalize the reporter. Sylvia gave each of us a better understanding of what it means to work on a dynamic team.

This project was a good chance to use some of the skills I'm learning in a real-world setting. It involved problem-solving and clear communication, which are important skills to have. Sylvia was really supportive and understanding throughout the project, which made it a positive experience.

Working with The Lady Instructor's Landlord & Tenant toolkit project was a learning experience. Sylvia was easy to work with and communicate with (e.g., Weekly meetings for checkups, bookable one-on-one meetings, communication through Slack or emails).

Working with Sylvia was a great experience where we got to tackle common renters' issues through entertaining content. Renting laws can be complicated and perceived as tricky to many new renters, making the rules clear is the responsibility of us all to have a safe and prospering community!

I have interacted with many new people and Sylvia has been amazing in checking in on everything and helping providing any clarification or explanations on this project, as well as providing ideas.
