Zero Main Inc. is focused on developing properties in environmentally sensitive areas, such as flood plains, where climate change awareness is crucial. The goal of this project is to utilize advanced drone technology and portable weather stations to collect comprehensive environmental data, including soil, air, water, and climate metrics. Students will apply their classroom knowledge to analyze this data, contributing to virtual simulations and sustainability initiatives. The project aims to explore the natural features of Ontario’s farmland and townships, helping to develop eco-friendly solutions for property development. This initiative will involve site visits, research, and data analysis, providing students with hands-on experience and the opportunity to engage with scientists, local authorities, and community partners. The ultimate objective is to shape sustainable, user-friendly spaces that align with Zero Main Inc.’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Climate Data Analysis & Sustainability Solutions for Zero Main Properties

Students will collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to collect and analyze environmental data-using portable weather stations and advanced drone technology-at Zero Main Inc.’s climate-sensitive properties. They will contribute to virtual simulations of soil, air, water, and climate conditions, research local environmental regulations, and develop actionable recommendations for sustainable property development. Through site visits, data analysis, and engagement with community partners, students will help advance Zero Main’s commitment to environmental stewardship and climate resilience.

User Experience Analysis for Zero Main Inc.'s New Product

Zero Main Inc. has recently developed a new product and seeks to understand its user experience through comprehensive user testing. The goal of this project is to assess how real users interact with the product, identify any usability issues, and gather feedback on the overall user experience. This project will allow learners to apply their knowledge of user experience design and testing methodologies. The team will conduct structured user testing sessions, collect qualitative and quantitative data, and analyze the results to provide actionable insights. The project is designed to be completed by a team of learners from a user experience or human-computer interaction program, ensuring that the tasks align with their skill set. The project is structured to be completed within 80 hours, focusing on a small number of closely related tasks.

"Zero Main Inc" Website Development

Our new sustainability company needs a continuing web presence. We would like to continue building our new website by coordinating with previous Riipen Level-up students who are working on the merchandising and live casting components. Tasks include testing live cast camera compatibilities with web-based platforms, adding new products to the website and improving the advertising of those products. Students would also need to know of WooCommerce, Elementor in addition to site building tools such as Wix, Webflow, and WordPress. Students will need to read prior Riipen student project exit reports to suggest and implement ways of improving the website. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Researching different site-building tools for new tasks identified by company leadership and their associated advantages / disadvantages. Conducting a needs analysis to determine which platform is most suitable given current website set up. Improve on the website, with our assistance in providing the content. Provide training on updating and maintaining the website. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Testing prototypes with customers and refining ideas with feedback.
