Kind Screen is an EdTech startup that was founded after being awarded the Education Entrepreneurship Fellowship from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. We help adults (mainly parents) bond with children and work together on social-emotional skills needed for a happy and fulfilled life, we make this fun by leveraging children’s existing interests. In short, we want to make social-emotional learning scalable, fun, and accessible to families around the world!
We are building a Duolingo-like gamified mobile app that parents (or any adult at home) can use to connect with kids and teach them Social-Emotional skills (i.e. Perseverance, Kindness, Self Control, etc). Kind Screen has guided conversations and practical exercises based on dilemmas and situations seen in kids media stories (movies, series, comics, etc). - Number of employees

We want to gain insights from student research and analysis as teams identify/analyze the key consumer wants & needs that the offerings in Social-Emotional Education available for parents to support their children meet , reveal how our competitors attract and keep customers, and propose how this knowledge can be used to grow our business. Our startup is based in Boston, MA and our primary market for launching is the US.

Support activities to build the business plan for investors. Some thoughts on ways to acquire customers Through social media and email groups for Parents Communities (English & Spanish), doing viral campaigns with recommendation incentives. Content marketing focused on advice about media, parenting & education. Homeschooling and stay-at-home parents are likely early adopters. We’ll seek alliances with schools too. We would love to reach partnerships with media companies, such as Comcast (X1), COX, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, etc, to help their customers with high quality content discovery and engagement. The goal By the end of the project, we hope to have: A Go-To-Market strategy ready to be used when we launch the app in the US (High Priority). Also have determined a pricing strategy that would maximize customer acquisition and long term profitability. Have a business plan that can be shared with potential investors.
Virtual Internship: Computer Science, CMS for mobile app.
Kind Screen is looking for motivated computer science students to help us build the Content Management System (CMS) that we’ll use to manage the exercises that will be uploaded into our educational mobile app. This is a critical component of our app because it facilitates the continuous creation and revision of content. The main users of the CMS platform will be educators or psychologists who write the content, they are the writers. The secondary user of the CMS will be an approver (admin) of the content that is submitted. The team working on this project (CMS) will report to Kind Screen’s CTO and CEO. Our CTO has over 15 years of experience leading software engineering teams. Our CEO also has over 15 years of experience in business, media, and education. We would be excited to work with a team of students and also contribute to their learning experience! To maintain consistency between the current developments inside Kind Screen, the students will be limited to the following technology stack: React framework, ideally with Typescript, for the web UI. Node.js + Express for the backend. Google Cloud Firebase Firestore
