Project Examples

Requirements

Students can flex their skillsets under the umbrellas of data analysis, business intelligence, and/or machine learning. Below are generalized examples of projects an employer may see fit to offer University at Albany students.

Data Analysis

  • Data cleaning and munging
  • Building dashboard or reports
  • Generating automated reports using Python
  • Other duties as employer sees fit

Business Intelligence

  • Data visualizations
  • Aggregating data for key performance indicators (KPI)
  • Building dashboards
  • Other duties as employer sees fit

Machine Learning

  • Application of mathematical models to computers
  • Prediction of discrete values, trends, and classifications
  • Other duties as employer sees fit

To ensure students’ learning objectives are achieved, we recommend that the datasets are at least 20,000+ rows in size. Data need not be ‘clean’; it is advantageous to the students’ learning experience to require hygiene prior to analysis. Similarly, if more than one database is provided, which must be conjoined, students will be required to integrate them. This supports the learning experience and minimizes partner data preparation.
